Evidence from administrative job searches we supported

These notes come from people preparing for office assistant, reception, and processing roles. They describe specific sessions — not marketplace star ratings.

“I arrived with five versions of a CV and no idea which German titles matched my hotel front-desk years. In one career consultation we cut it to two versions tied to Empfangs- and Assistenzstellen. The interviewer later asked about the exact filing example we had rehearsed.”

Miriam K. · Administrative career consultation · Baden-Württemberg

“The application package review caught that my Anschreiben still read like a university cover letter. Fixing the opening paragraph took longer than I expected, and I was frustrated mid-week — but the revised version got a reply from a logistics office within ten days.”

Jonas R. · Application package review · Rhineland-Palatinate

“Interview prep for a Sachbearbeiter role felt awkward at first because I had to practise saying no to tasks outside the job description. That one drill mattered more than smiling through generic strengths questions.”

Aylin S. · Interview preparation · Remote session

“We built a two-week search plan around Behörden and mid-size Firmen openings near Landau. I still send too many applications when I am anxious, but the weekly checklist keeps me from vanishing into job portals overnight.”

Thomas H. · Job search strategy · Palatinate region

Extended note: returning to office work after parental leave

Claudia wanted part-time Assistenz work after three years away from a clinic administration desk. Together we mapped which tasks still appeared in local vacancies, refreshed her Zeugnis summary language, and prepared answers about availability without oversharing.

She interviewed at two practices and one municipal office. The municipal panel asked about document confidentiality — a topic we had scripted. She accepted a 60% Assistenzstelle. The slower part was waiting on references; we had underestimated how long former supervisors take to reply in summer.
